Bangkok is divided into 50 districts. Your district office is the BMA's front desk for most local matters.

01

What district offices handle

  • House registration and civil registration (for people who are eligible under Thai law)
  • Local permits and business licences within the BMA's authority
  • Local taxes such as land and building tax and signboard tax
  • Environment, waste collection, public health and neighbourhood issues
  • Requests for CCTV footage — see Requesting CCTV footage
02

Reporting where you live

Foreign residents must be reported to Immigration by their landlord or hotel (the TM.30 notification) and report their address regularly if they stay long term. This is handled by the Immigration Bureau, not the BMA — see Moving to Bangkok. Whether a foreigner can be added to a house registration depends on their status — ask your district office.
